Great to be back at the gorgeous Thrumpton Hall and the very windy Breedon Priory Church for Suzy and Gary’s wedding.
Scroll down to see photos from the day, but before that here’s a photo taken during the wedding speeches that I love simply because it that sums up exactly what I’m looking for when I’m shooting a wedding, real emotion, timing and discretion.
As the groom Gary did his speech I knew Suzy’s mum Joan who had passed away 24 years ago would be remembered. I was already in a good position just to the side of the top table and I noticed Suzy lean in towards her dad Brian, and then Ben closed into hug his mum, at this moment there is a strong temptation to rattle off shots but I held off. Their heads came together, Brian closed his eyes remembering his wife, and I had the shot.
I took four frames not forty in this sequence, thats all that was needed. It sounds simple but knowing when NOT to press the shutter is just as important as knowing when to.
